Baked: One-Bowl Chocolate Cupcakes
by thehamazon
Hello, cupcake.
I tried this one-bowl chocolate cake recipe from Martha, but didn’t really like it. I pulled the recipe directly from her book, Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook, but when I looked for the recipe online, it was different. Giving this cake another go is worth it, though; one-bowl recipes are in high demand by our dishwasher named Me. And I don’t know if you’ve met Me, but she’s a lazy asshole.
I made these the other night — actually, I made these (we dubbed them ‘unicorn poop,’ glittery neigh!) — and then decorated these ones last night for Artie and the man. I’m testing out recipes for a Valentines Day treat I want to make; the frosting was made on the fly.
When in doubt, my go-to chocolate cake recipe is the Deep Dark Chocolate Cake out of Shirley O. Corriher’s scientific BakeWise. It is made of chocolate and magic and darkness; it’s worth the multiple bowls and days-long clean-up.
Still, what can I learn by doing the same thing over and over? Next time I’ll try something outside of my comfort zone.
